WITHROW HIGH SCHOOL
ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME OPENS 2/4/12
Withrow High School began as East High School in 1919. The name was changed to Withrow in 1925.
Since Withrow’s opening in 1919 our alumni have established a rich heritage
of producing outstanding athletes while attending Withrow and post-Withrow.
However, astonishing as it may seem, there has never been an Athletic Hall of Fame at the school... until now.
Through the determined efforts of many individuals by-laws were created
and a recognition program has been born.
On Saturday, February 4, 2012 Withrow will induct
its inaugural class
to the Withrow Athletic Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony will take place in the Withrow Gym
at halftime of the 7:30 p.m. Withrow-Aiken boy's basketball game.
Among those being honored will be:
-
Eddie Beamon, '74 (football)
-
Ricky Calloway, '85 (basketball)
-
Wilce Carnes, '36 (football, basketball, baseball)
-
Dick Ernst, '50 (football, basketball, baseball, track)
-
Joel "Joby" Haynes, '60 (basketball)
-
Walt Maerki, '38 (football, basketball, baseball)
-
Louis Orr, '76 (basketball)
-
Dave Plunkett, '52 (basketball)
-
Fred Ratterman, '30 (football, basketball, baseball)
-
Bob Siekmann, Sr., '39 (football, basketball, baseball)
-
LaSalle Thompson, '79 (basketball)
There will be an induction each year thereafter with a maximum of five inductees each year.
Further information may be obtained by using the emailing WAHOF@Withrowalumni.com or writing:

To keep the program viable for many years we would welcome any donations made payable to WAI, Inc. and indicated they are for the Withrow Athletic Hall of Fame.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT… AND FOR CARING ABOUT WITHROW ! |
